Iran to form youth national teams as part of four‑year development plan

Expert assessments at a specialized meeting chaired by Ali Targholizadeh revealed that one contributing factor to the performance of Iran’s youth teams in recent years has been the absence of a youth national team since 2018 due to various reasons, including conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Consequently, with the approval of the federation’s board of directors, the formation of national teams in the U13, U14 and U15 age groups has been placed on the agenda.

Mostafa Ghanbarpour has been appointed as head coach of the youth national team and as manager of teams in this age category to oversee talent identification, training and player development with greater coherence. A specialized meeting was held today with the participation of experts and individuals with experience in national youth categories to formulate the framework for future programs. The federation intends to pursue a targeted four‑year plan for various age groups to develop grassroots football and strengthen the pool for Iran’s senior national teams.
