All Set for Glory: Asian Champions Hold Final Training Session Before Departure
According to the official website of the Football Federation, despite Tehran experiencing one of its coldest winter days, Iran’s futsal internationals completed their last training session under the supervision of the technical staff as they prepared to fly to Jakarta, the host city of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup.
Osouli, (Head of delegation) to the tournament, praised the efforts of the coaching staff and players, stating:
This is the third Asian Cup we are experiencing together. We are pleased to see new young players joining the squad, alongside experienced players who give us great hope for success. The precision and sensitivity with which the technical staff have managed the preparations has been exemplary. Iranian futsal has always been a source of pride, and once again we are heading into this mission to win the most prestigious trophy in Asia. We hope to make the proud people of Iran happy.
Dabiri (member of Board) reaffirmed the federation’s full support for the national futsal team, noting:
“The Football Federation’s Board stands fully behind the national futsal team. Due to certain circumstances, it was not possible to arrange preparatory matches, which we know was a legitimate expectation of the coaching staff and players. Despite all efforts, this did not materialize. Nevertheless, we firmly believe in the intelligence and leadership of the coaching staff, as well as the determination, skill, and ability of the players. We are confident that, as always, you will bring pride to Iran.”
Kamyani (Head of the Futsal), highlighted Iran’s historic dominance in Asian futsal:
“Iran has won the Asian championship 13 times, and I have no doubt that each of you is focused solely on claiming the 14th title. We have stood by you throughout this journey and will continue to do so until the very end. We consider this our national duty.”
Vahid Shamsaei expressed his gratitude for the federation’s support while acknowledging the challenges ahead:
“We have overcome many difficulties, and we know the road ahead will not be easy. Our rivals will do everything in their power to stop Iran. But from the very first day of training, we have repeated one phrase over and over: nothing but the championship. This is exactly what the people expect from us. We have previously lived up to the motto ‘to the last drop of blood for Iran,’ and this time as well, we will fight with all our strength to raise Iran’s tricolor flag high in Jakarta.”
According to the team’s schedule, the players will rest tomorrow and depart Tehran for Jakarta on Friday. Iran enters the 18th edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup as the most successful team in the competition’s history, having claimed 13 titles in the previous 17 editions, a record unmatched anywhere in Asia.
