20th FIFA Men’s World Rankings for IRAN

According to the official Football Federation statement, the latest FIFA rankings for the men’s national teams of 2026 confirm that Iran, managed by Amir Ghalenoei, has successfully retained its 20th position in the world standings.
This ranking stability comes as neighboring Asian powerhouse Japan has slipped one spot, now sitting just behind Iran at 19th. The primary driver of movement in this edition’s rankings was the recent Africa Cup of Nations, which led to substantial gains for several African teams, notably Senegal, Morocco, and Egypt.
At the very top of the global ladder, the reigning order remains largely consistent, with Spain currently occupying the first position, followed by Argentina in second, and France rounding out the top three.
