The first phase of the Iran national futsal team’s preparation for the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship in Jakarta has come to an end. Twenty players completed a week of intensive training at the National Football Center and departed this afternoon for a three-day break.

Originally, a friendly series against Iraq was planned, but the matches were canceled due to recent circumstances. The decision was made in coordination with the Futsal Committee and coaching staff to allow the players to rest earlier and recover ahead of the final phase.

The coaching staff, led by Vahid Shamsaei, will call up 16 players for the final training camp on Friday. From this group, 14 players will be selected to represent Iran at the tournament.

As defending champions, Iran’s futsal team will depart Tehran to Jakarta, aiming to defend their title in the upcoming continental competition.
