Mohajerani: Self-Belief Will Lead Iran U-23 to Success / Ravankhah Is an Influential Coach

Speaking to the official website of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI), Heshmat Mohajerani shared his assessment of the Iran U-23 national team on the eve of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, extending his greetings to the entire U-23 football family.
“In my view, this team has all the necessary factors to become champions,” Mohajerani said. “If this belief truly takes shape within the squad and staff, the success of the U-23 team can turn into a major turning point for Iranian football.”
He stressed that self-belief is the key element behind any achievement. “We must have faith in our own abilities. When everyone moves together toward a clear, shared objective, that unity can take us to the top,” he added.
The former Iran U-23 head coach highlighted the technical qualities of the current team and its coaching staff, noting: “Mr. Ravankhah’s team is capable of transforming collective tactics into true team tactics and turning high-intensity play into fully structured, tactical football. This is a very valuable quality and reflects sound football knowledge and correct thinking.”
Mohajerani emphasized that Ravankhah has players who are comfortable on the ball and possess strong decision-making skills. “These characteristics give the U-23 team a genuine chance to compete for the title—provided they truly believe in themselves,” he said.
He concluded by underlining the broader impact of belief and confidence: “Once this belief is established, we can showcase the full potential, stature and strength of both the team and our country on the pitch. Omid Ravankhah is an influential coach who has demonstrated his capabilities during this period. I wish him, the U-23 squad and the entire technical staff the very best of success.”
