Kerman Football Draws Federation Spotlight

The recent meeting between FFIRI President Mehdi Taj and the Governor of Kerman placed renewed emphasis on the strategic importance of football development in the province. During the session, Kerman was officially described as Iran’s third football province, underlining its significant role in the national football structure.
With the support of both the Football Federation and the Kerman provincial authorities, a Premier Beach Soccer League slot was awarded to Mes Rafsanjan, enabling the province to strengthen its presence in this discipline as well. Plans aimed at further developing beach soccer in Kerman were also discussed as part of broader football expansion initiatives.
Kerman currently hosts several teams across different football leagues and benefits from relatively strong infrastructure, including multiple airports and standard stadiums. However, officials acknowledged that further investment in the hotel sector is required to enhance the province’s ability to host major national and international sporting events.
The Football Federation and the government are working jointly to improve stadiums and football-related infrastructure nationwide, with the goal of enabling provinces such as Kerman to host larger and more prestigious competitions. The meeting reflects the federation’s broader focus on decentralizing football development, strengthening provincial capacities, and expanding sports infrastructure across the country.
