Federation Support Women’s National Team

Farideh Shojaei, announced that head coach Marzieh Jafari will now serve exclusively with the national team.

The Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) has reaffirmed its commitment to the women’s national football team following their qualification for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. In a recent statement, Farideh Shojaei, Vice President for Women’s Affairs, emphasized the federation’s full trust in Marziyeh Jafari, confirming that she will now work solely with the national team and hold no club contracts.

Shojaei praised Jafari’s experience and leadership, describing her as a capable and dedicated coach whose strategic vision can shape a bright future for Iranian women’s football. She added that the federation’s support is not just administrative, but a reflection of belief in domestic talent.

A key focus in the coming weeks will be a strategic planning session with Jafari to finalize preparation programs for the Asian Cup. These will include domestic training camps, friendly matches, and tailored fitness regimens, all designed to ensure peak performance without disrupting other official schedules.

Regarding financial incentives, Shojaei confirmed that bonuses for the team’s qualification are under review and will be paid following approval by the federation’s executive board. She stressed that honoring these commitments is essential to maintaining player motivation and morale.

Shojaei concluded with optimism, stating: “We believe in this team. With Jafari’s leadership, the players’ dedication, and the federation’s full backing, we aim to send a united and competitive squad to the Asian Cup. Iranian women’s football holds immense potential, and we are determined to help it flourish.”
