Iran Placed in Pot 4 for 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced the official seeding for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup, set to be hosted by Australia.
The Iranian women's national team has been placed in Pot 4, joining India and Bangladesh in the lowest seeding tier.
This placement follows Iran’s successful qualification for the tournament and the latest FIFA rankings, which also influenced the preliminary seeding for the 2027 Women's World Cup qualifiers.
The draw ceremony for the Asian Cup will take place on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Sydney, Australia.
The tournament will feature 12 national teams: Australia, Japan, North Korea, China, South Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, and Bangladesh. Matches will be held from March 1 to March 21, 2026, across three Australian cities—Sydney, Gold Coast, and Perth—with teams divided into three groups of four.
