Jafari:

“Iran’s Women Exceeded Expectations – This Is Just the Beginning”

Following Iran’s historic qualification for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia, head coach Marziyeh Jafari reflected on the team's performance, calling the achievement “a collective triumph” and “the beginning of a new chapter.”

Jafari said:

“I’m genuinely proud and happy that we were able to bring joy to the people of Iran. Qualifying for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup was no easy task. We entered the tournament under immense pressure — limited preparation, intense camp schedules, logistical challenges — yet these players fought with heart and discipline. They went above and beyond expectations.”

She praised the team’s strength both technically and mentally:

“The girls demonstrated not just tactical quality but also the mental resilience of a truly elite team. This squad deserves to be recognized.”

Jafari also acknowledged the broader support network behind the success:

“My heartfelt thanks go to the Football Federation, especially its president, the Women’s Committee, the technical staff, the medical team, media crew, logistics team, and every single person who stood with us. This qualification is not just a result — it’s a shared accomplishment.”

She paid tribute to former coaches and players who paved the way:

“Today’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of those who came before us. I want to sincerely thank all the past players and coaches who laid the foundations of women’s football in Iran. What we achieved today is the product of years of persistent effort.”

Looking ahead, the head coach was clear:

“This is not the end — it's the start of a new phase. We must now plan carefully for the final tournament. This team has the potential to grow and compete with Asia’s best. I hope we continue to receive the support needed to proudly represent Iranian women’s football on the continental stage.”
