Our Goal Is Full Readiness for the Qualifiers
Following a dominant 8–0 win over Iraq in a friendly match, Marziyeh Jafari, head coach of the Iran women’s national football team, shared her thoughts with the official website of the Football Federation:
“These two friendly matches against Iraq are part of our preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Yesterday’s match wasn’t just about the result. Our main goal was to improve team coordination and assess the squad’s technical condition. I’m pleased that the players approached the game with focus and full commitment, and they executed the tactical instructions very well.”
She added:
“More important than the opponent was our internal objective—evaluating the physical and mental readiness of the players and testing some of the formations and tactics we have in mind. In tomorrow’s match (Thursday, June 12), we’ll also be focusing on assessment. We’ll likely give playing time to those who didn’t feature or played less in the first game, so we can evaluate the full depth of our squad. The aim is to head into the qualifiers with maximum understanding of our team.”
Jafari concluded by saying:
“The team’s preparation is progressing according to schedule. Thankfully, the players are highly motivated, and the team atmosphere is very positive. These two matches against Iraq are a great opportunity to correct small mistakes before we enter the qualifiers. I sincerely thank everyone who supports and follows women’s football. Our goal is to build a strong and proud team for Iran—and rest assured, we’re giving it our all.”
