Proud to Be Back with the National Team – Talented Young Players Have Joined Us
Morteza Pouraliganji, veteran defender of Persepolis FC and a regular feature in multiple World Cup campaigns has rejoined the national team camp ahead of Iran’s matches against Qatar and North Korea.
Speaking to Team Melli’s media team, Pouraliganji said:
“I’m very happy to be back with the national team. I thank Coach Ghalenoei and the technical staff for their trust. First and foremost, I wish success for Team Melli. We’ve had productive training sessions over the past few days. Though not all players have arrived yet, we’re building a strong and promising squad, with several talented young players joining us.”
Pouraliganji praised the current camp environment:
“The atmosphere is great. The senior players are mentoring the younger ones, and the coaches are constantly providing guidance and tactical instruction. We need to maintain this focus as we face Qatar and North Korea and continue preparing for the World Cup with determination.”
Reflecting on his injury and recovery, he added:
“Injuries are always tough, especially serious ones that weigh heavily on your mind. Thankfully, with the support of the medical staff, the club, and my teammates, I managed to recover fully. Earning back the trust of my club coach was a key milestone. Being invited to the national team now is a message in itself—that hard work pays off and the coaching staff values commitment and perseverance.”
He highlighted the significance of Iran’s upcoming matches:
“Winning against Qatar and North Korea will improve our FIFA ranking and help with World Cup seeding. These games are crucial for our long-term success, so our full focus must be on achieving positive results.”
On the broader evolution of Asian football, Pouraliganji noted:
“Asian teams have made significant strides with improved infrastructure and competitive preparation. We must keep pace and invest more in our football. Football is a global language, and Iran deserves to strengthen its position on the world stage.”
Regarding preparations for the 2026 World Cup, he emphasized:
“The World Cup is football’s grand stage. Every team there represents the pride of its nation. We need quality friendlies, focused camps, and top-tier facilities to prepare. Tactical unity and team chemistry will be key. One moment of carelessness at the World Cup can change everything. A solid plan will help us bring joy to our people.”
Pouraliganji concluded with a heartfelt message:
“The national team carries the honor of a nation. We, as players, must give our all on the field, and the public can play a big role through their support and positive energy. With national unity, we can achieve great results for Iran.”
