
AFC Level 1 Women's Futsal Goalkeeping Course Begins
In a significant step toward developing women’s futsal coaching in Iran, the AFC Level 1 Futsal Goalkeeping Course for women officially commenced this morning at the National Football Center in Tehran. The six-day course, organized by the Football Federation of Iran’s Education Department, is led by AFC Elite Instructor Michael Petros.
The course brings together 20 participants, including current and former national team goalkeepers such as Farzaneh Tavasoli, Mahtareh Tavakkoli, Behnaz Khayyat, and Shima Karimi, as well as active goalkeepers from the Iranian Women’s Futsal Premier League.
In a gesture of support and recognition, President of the Football Federation of Iran, Mehdi Taj, paid a visit to the course venue. He praised the high quality and professionalism of the course, highlighting the pivotal role goalkeepers play in futsal. "Organizing such scientific and technical courses reflects our serious commitment to developing women's football and futsal through education," Taj remarked.
He also commended the Education Department for its structured approach and emphasized the importance of continuous knowledge development in strengthening Iran’s position in Asian futsal.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the federation's supportive stance and described the course as one of their best learning experiences, citing the expert instruction and dynamic learning environment as key strengths.
